===========================
> 1.How does a rotary engine work?
> Triangle shaped rotors with pockets on each side spin on a 3:2 gear

ratio directly on the drive shaft/eccentric shaft. At each face, fuel is
trapped, compressed, fired, and exhaust releases
2.What's a boinger?
> Reciprocating engine

3.Why does a rotary engine make as much power as a boinger twice its size?
> Direct torque. Rotors are placed directly on the "crank" shaft

4.Why does a Renesis make so much more power than prior rotaries?
> Efficiency and side mounted exhaust ports to burn off all fuel

5.How reliable is a rotary engine?
> As reliable as you keep it well maintained

6.Is the rotary engine dead?
> No, see question 4

7.What do the 10A, 12A, 13B & 20B Mazda engine designations mean?
> each number refers to the cc size times by 100. The letters means

that its that Generation for that size
8.Why two spark plugs for each rotor?
> One trailing, one leading. Basically it burns off more fuel

9.What spark plugs should I use?
> NGK

10.Why does my rotary Mazda have an oil cooler?
> Oil is very important and rotary engines run extremely hot

11.What oil should I use?
> 10W-40 or 20W-50

12.Should I use synthetic oil?
> Only, if you have a LARGE TURBO

13.Do oil brands matter?
> I would suggest any that uses mineral oil

14.How often should I change my rotary engine's oil?
> Play it safe, 2500 miles

15.Should I mix oil in the fuel?
> You don't really have to

16.What's the best fuel for my rotary car?
> 93 or 92 octane

17.What gas mileage should a rotary get?
> If you are lucky, 17 mpg

18.Will removing my thermostat help my rotary run cooler or make more power?
> Not unless you plan on NOT warming up your engine

19.When should I shift?
> Peak HP usuall is at redline, so shit there

20.What is an apex seal?
> Separates each chamber inside the engine

21.How do I know if my engine's apex seals are OK?
> Compression test,

22.What should my engine's compression be?
> Hmmm http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/rotorwgt.htm

23.What are the differences between earlier & later Mazda rotaries?
> A lot, depending on what years we are talking about

24.What are the differences between 6-Port & 4-Port rotaries?
> 4 port are more commonly found on Turbos, 6 for N/A

25.How do I tell a 12A from a 13B?
> Engine code can be found on top of housings

26.What is a thermal reactor?
> What catalytic converters used to be

27.What's the best way to test changes I make that affect my car's power?
> DYNO

28.What if I switch to a light flywheel?
> Less momentum on shifts. Revs quicker, but shifting uphill is

difficult
29.How do I get the old flywheel off?
> Get a Mazda flywheel puller

30.How hard is it to stop oil from leaking?
> HUH?

31.O-rings? What o-rings?
> They are called Apex seals. . .unless we are talking about the

O-ring on the throttle body
32.What's that foamy stuff under the oil fill cap & inside the filler tube?
> did not see that before

33.Why does my engine smoke when I first start it?
> Many possible reasons. MAP sensor not plugged in?

34.Why does my engine smoke when I shift at high RPM?
> Ummmm what?

35.Why won't my engine start? What can I do to start it?
> HAHA don't flood the engine

36.Why is my engine locked up, and what do I do about it?
> Ohh i forgot how to unflood an engine, just let the car warm up next

time before shutting it off
37.My engine just failed its emissions test. Now what do I do?
> Find a different mechanic to let you pass =P

38.What's the best way to make my rotary car accelerate quicker?
> More hp or less weight. ALso better tires can help

39.How hard would it be for me to rebuild my rotary?
> LOTS OF TIME!

40.What is porting all about?
> Bigger intakes allows more fuel, more hp basically. BUt louder if

you port the exhaust ports (especially if you make a Bridge port)
41.Can I add a turbo to my NA?
> The engine? I wouldn't, it would be easier to just get a 13BT.

42.Why is rotary exhaust replacement or improvement so expensive?
> Umm not really. There are a lot less RX-7s out there and therefor

competition is not as high. Prices may seem high because of that.
43.Why not hollow out the cats?
> 44.How do I remove my air pump?
> Just unbolt it, but i wouldn't.

45.How do I stop the backfiring?
> Don't know

46.How can I tell if my car has a limited-slip differential?
> Do you have a GTUs, or a Turbo?

47.Where can I race my rotary car?
> Where everyone else races

48.Corvttes, Mustngs, Firbirds, Camros, Porches & RX7s?
> Bananas, Oranges, Strawberrys, & Kiwis. Whats your question?

49.What are the RX-7 "generations"?
> 1st, 2nd, 3rd

50.Which model RX-7 do I have?
> 78-85 1st Gen, 86-91 2nd, 93+ 3rd

51.What other regular production cars have had rotary engines?
> RX something from mazda and the Cosmo. But, they are not being

produced no more. . . so only the RX-7
52.Why did Mazda stop selling the RX-7 in the US?
> In 1996 OBD-II was required for diagnosis of exhaust. Since the
